Thrift to Flip! Upcycle Denim Edition

Flip it. Stitch it. Own your style.

Give old denim a brand-new story!

In this 6-week creative sewing experience, students will transform thrifted or outgrown denim into something completely new while learning the art of upcycling, garment reconstruction, and creative design.

Students will bring 3–4 pairs of clean, unwanted or thrifted jeans and choose one of three project paths:

WEAR IT — Create an instructor-approved wearable project such as a skirt, simple vest, reconstructed top, or another creative design.

CARRY IT — Transform denim into something functional and stylish, such as a tote, crossbody, or simple backpack-style project.

REMIX IT — Combine denim pieces, pockets, waistbands, belt loops, and other salvaged details into an original reconstructed or patchwork creation.

Students are encouraged to bring their own inspiration!

We'll help them turn their ideas into a project that fits their skill level, materials, and the 6-week class timeline.

Along the way, students will learn how to plan, deconstruct, rebuild, sew denim, problem-solve, and personalize their creation with their own unique Remix Details.

The session ends with a final reveal where students can show off their finished transformation!

Bring: 3–4 pairs of clean, unwanted or thrifted jeans, plus any special trims, patches, buttons, or embellishments you may want to use.

Prep Workshop required.

Our Thrift to Flip! Prep Workshop is a required 1-day, 2-hour session. Students will learn to operate a sewing machine and take home a tote bag made from their favorite old t-shirt.

*Class requirement is waived for currently enrolled and returning students of Threaded from Heaven.*
