Mending Basics: Repair & Restore

1.5-Hour Hands-On Workshop

Give your clothes a second life while learning practical skills you’ll use again and again. In this beginner-friendly mending workshop, you’ll learn how to make common clothing repairs by hand perfect for everyday wear, favorite pieces, and sustainability-minded living.

Students will bring a few garments to class and receive guided, step-by-step instruction on basic mending techniques. You’ll leave feeling confident repairing small tears, sewing on buttons, and hand-hemming garments at home.

No sewing experience required.

You’ll Learn:

  • Sewing on buttons (flat and shank)

  • Repairing small tears and holes

  • Hand sewing a hem

  • Essential hand stitches for mending

  • Tips for strengthening repairs and extending garment life

What to Bring:

  • 2–3 garments needing basic repairs
    (small tears, loose hems, missing buttons, etc.)

What’s Included:

  • Use of mending tools

  • Thread, needles, and practice materials

  • Hands-on instruction and personalized help
